If you are self-conscious by the "cottage cheese" around your thighs and rear, you aren't the only one. Millions of people suffer from this unsightly problem called cellulite. Cellulite has a tendency to build up in and around the stomach, thighs, and rear area, and both males and females can get it. But sadly it is a lot more typical in women than in men. The dimply, cottage cheese structure is very visible because fat deposits press against the connective tissues causing the skin area to dimple.
There are three levels of cellulite. Grade one is mild, creating only changes in cells. With level two the skin can be pasty and fat tissues become lower in temperature and much less elastic. Level three is essentially grade two however with the skin becoming much rougher.
How does cellulite form to start with?
A lot of people are shocked when they first see those unsightly lumps in the mirror, that seem to have come from nowhere. Many want to know what they did to cause it. Bear in mind, there are many elements that can create cellulite. Most experts believe that gender, genetics, hormones, volume of body fat, in addition to diet and lifestyle choices can all cause cellulite.
Considerable contributing factors are the hormones insulin and estrogen in addition to being predisposed genetically to getting cellulite. What you eat and surprisingly, what you wear can cause cellulite too. Eating excessively and eating meals elevated in carbs, sodium and fat are all contributing factors to getting cellulite. Additional causes are not enough exercise, smoking and snug clothing.
There are various so called "cures" for cellulite, however, there is no scientific research to back these claims. A few common treatments require injecting the trouble spots with drugs and enzymes. Along with this being painful and costly, these treatments haven't been proven to work. Massage is another popular treatment, but does nothing more than puff up the skin briefly. Liposuction doesn't work because it eliminates the deep layers of fat rather than the fat near the surface of the skin.
However, there is a new anti cellulite cream that does show some hope. Scientific studies by major universities have demonstrated it to 'deflate' fat cells like a balloon. This anti cellulite cream is rather new and more studies may be required to find out if it truly works. For now, it seems that the only surefire way to reduce cellulite is good ole' fashion diet and exercise...and maybe a new anti cellulite cream.
