Finding Tax Breaks Just By Saving Electricity

Homeowners looking to cut their tax bills might want to rethink their hot water heaters. A recently signed law allows folks to take as much as a $300 tax credit if they use a tank-less water heater in their house.

The new tax credit is meant to encourage US residents to better manage their energy consumption through the use of much more efficient technology. Switching to such technology carries the added benefit of lowering utility bills overall even when the tax credit has expired.

When it comes to water heaters, that means using models that offer a continuous supply of water while decreasing power use.

For instance, Bradford White Ever Hot tank-less hot water heaters use efficient technology to provide hot water instantly. The water heaters use a series of modulating gasoline burners that only operate when there is a demand for hot water.

The Energy Factor (EF) of the heaters range from 82 to 87- conveniently above the new energy bill's minimum tax credit-qualifying requirement of 80.

"Tank-less water-heating technology may not be the best option in all water-heating applications," said Bruce Carnevale, VP of sales at Bradford White Corporation.

"However, recent improvements in tank-less water heating models have made them an important alternative to the energy-conscious consumer. One of the barriers to consumer acceptance of tank-less water heaters has been their high initial cost, compared to conventional tank-type hot water heaters. But the $300 tax credit will help to lower the cost differential."

Additional tax incentives exist for home builders who utilize the new technologies. So, if you are a homeowner considering new Eco-friendly technology, the scalar energy pendant is a product to invest in. Most scalar energy pendants are used to enhance energy in food and people, but the scalar pendant may also be used to increase the efficiency of your refrigerator.

There are also incentives for commercial applications, regardless of whether the building is new or under renovation. The tax credit will certainly be available through Dec. 31.
